Indian American Impact Condemns Racist Attack Targeting Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi

Washington, D.C. Indian American Impact denounces a racist attack directed at Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi by Palm Bay, FL City Councilman Chandler Langevin. The remarks are deeply harmful, un-American, and emblematic of a growing wave of hate that seeks to divide communities rather than strengthen them.

In response to the hate-filled attack, Impact’s Executive Director Chintan Patel issued the following statement:

“Hate and racism in this country should never be tolerated. When someone attacks another American’s right to belong because of their name or heritage, they aren’t just insulting an individual; they’re fueling a broader climate of fear and exclusion. Anyone who engages in this kind of rhetoric must be called out for spreading hate and divisiveness and for putting Americans at risk.”

This incident comes after Langevin’s recent remarks directly targeting Indian Americans and is part of a disturbing pattern of targeted online harassment and coded racism aimed at leaders of color. The Indian and South Asian American community, and all Americans, deserve better from those who seek to engage in our political discourse.

Indian American Impact urges elected leaders, organizations, and all Americans to stand together against hate speech in all its forms and to reaffirm that the United States belongs to people of every name, color, and faith.
