Indian American Impact Fund Endorses Zohran Mamdani for Mayor of New York City

New York City, NY — Today, the Indian American Impact Fund proudly endorses Zohran Mamdani for mayor of New York City.

Zohran Mamdani represents a bold new voice in New York City politics—a candidate who is deeply connected to the diverse, working- and middle-class communities that make this city thrive. With over 447,000 South Asian residents in New York City—the largest South Asian population in the country—this community holds significant political power that has often been overlooked. 

Chintan Patel, Executive Director of Indian American Impact Fund, released the following statement:

At a time when MAGA forces nationwide threaten to upend civil liberties and democratic values, we need a fighter like Zohran—someone who will stand up for fairness, protect our rights, and deliver solutions that work for all New Yorkers.

This campaign is about more than just winning an election—it’s about changing who gets seen, heard, and prioritized in City Hall. The path to victory runs through the long-overlooked South Asian community, and we’re thrilled to help mobilize this vital and growing electorate.”

Since its inception in 2016, Indian American Impact Fund has endorsed and supported 200+ candidates across the country, contributing to the historic rise of Indian and South Asian American representation in politics. Through strategic investments and grassroots organizing, Impact has marshaled upwards of $20 million to candidates and robust voter mobilization and policy advocacy efforts, amplifying the voices of South Asian Americans and driving positive change in communities nationwide.
